In response to the business's imperative for designing reports within the S/4HANA environment and seamlessly integrating it with BW, we've employed a novel approach. This method addresses the need for efficient reporting by streamlining S/4HANA and BW, ensuring a cohesive and synchronized reporting experience.
In this scenario, we utilized SAP S/4HANA CDS views integrated with SAP BW infoproviders to design an on-demand query in the BW environment. This integration optimizes the extraction and utilization of data, providing a dynamic and real-time reporting solution that aligns with the evolving demands of the business.

Project Overview:
View Creation in SAP S/4HANA:
We harnessed the power of Core Data Services (CDS) Views in SAP S/4HANA to create a dynamic query system. This not only offered flexibility but also enriched our data model with depth and meaning.
Data Export Activation:
Activating the Data Export functionality liberated us from traditional ETL processes. Live data now seamlessly flows from ERP to BW during query execution, eliminating delays associated with batch jobs.
Open ODS View Usage:
Open ODS Views in SAP BW provided a flexible canvas to incorporate live data from the CDS View query. This not only enhanced reporting capabilities but also streamlined data maintenance.
Advantages of the Integrated Approach:
Elimination of Batch Data Storage in SAP BW:
The need for storing data in SAP BW through periodic batch jobs has been completely eradicated, streamlining the reporting process and eliminating delays.
Query Execution Exclusively in SAP S/4HANA:
Complex queries are executed directly within the SAP S/4HANA environment, enhancing performance and leveraging the robust capabilities of S/4HANA for real-time data analysis.
Unified Reporting Hub:
SAP BW serves as a centralized reporting hub, consolidating reports from both BW and S/4HANA in one location, simplifying management, enhancing data governance, and providing a unified platform for comprehensive reporting.
Centralized Access Infrastructure and Portal Usage:
Integration of SAP BW and S/4HANA for reporting purposes centralizes access infrastructure. Users can conveniently access reports through a unified portal, promoting efficiency and ensuring a seamless user experience.
Real-time Access to Live Data During Report Execution:
The integration facilitates real-time access to live data during report execution, ensuring insights are based on the most current data available without the need for batch processes.
In conclusion, our integrated approach not only addresses technical challenges but also brings about a paradigm shift in the efficiency, accessibility, and real-time capabilities of reporting within the SAP landscape.
